Coming soon...
In this period of growing reliance on electronic
communication, our website will soon be undergoing a major
renovation for improved access to information and
interactive capabilities for online queries of the specimens
located at LSAM. We will include access to our Specify 6.0
database, searchable to the public thanks to our new
SilverCollection web portal software. This will enable
the public to browse taxonomy, view checklists by region and
taxon, view interactive maps, and search the collection of
>100,000 databased specimens. The collection will be queried
by multiple filters, including:
-
Taxonomy
-
Region
-
Locality
-
Collector
-
Year collected
-
And much more.
The database will be easy to query, easy to comprehend, and
useful for collecting distribution information. This
will also be an excellent resource for those researchers
interested in requesting a loan.
As the LSAM increases data entry, we anticipate this section
to grow significantly. A future project includes the
association of high-quality, Auto-Montage photos with each
species.
The
searchable database via the SilverCollection web portal
is underway, so please
visit us often as we plan to reveal it on 1 November 2009.
Status: 15 Nov 2009. Data are appearing on queries and the
portal is being optimized. These are test data that have
been loaded for this purpose. Not everything is online yet.
Stay tuned.
Web portal access will be available through this link.
